As a Nutritional Therapist, I am focussed on getting to the root cause of your symptoms, rather than just masking or suppressing them. To help me get to the “root cause” it is sometimes necessary to carry out functional testing.
Functional testing is a fantastic tool as it can help you identify any underlying deficiencies or imbalances which are causes you to have ill-health.
Function testing can enable me to carefully select the most beneficial supplements and key nutrients that will help support specific biochemical pathways and aid in the body’s natural self-healing process. I aim to help you restore balance and bring your body to a state of vitality.
It also allows you to explore your genetics and learn which diet is be best suited to you based on your genes. Genetic testing will help you to identify any predispositions you may have to certain conditions and show whether you have any biological impairments that prevent you from converting or absorbing certain nutrients.
I will also help you interpret the test results so you understand what is happening in your body. We will then work together to produce a targeted nutrition plan based on your genes, goals, and lifestyle.
Alongside recommending nutrients, I may also recommend specific supplements and lifestyle changes to support your health and wellbeing.
There are many functional tests available, either through the NHS or from a laboratory in the UK. I will be able to advise on which test would be most beneficial for your requirements and also advise where you can get the test from.
Some common tests available include;
Vitamin and mineral profiles
Comprehensive Stool Analysis
Adrenal Stress Test
Hormone Profiles – including thyroid, female hormones, and fertility testing
Functional Blood Chemistry – based upon optimal ranges for optimal health
